About The Wimp Score Card

This score set is a measure of an office holder's commitment to what the Missouri Constitution calls in Article I, Section 2 "the principal office of government", that is, the protection of the People's fundamental liberties.

Benjamin Franklin once wrote, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."  Franklin was not alone with this sentiment, it was part of the founding spirit that fueled the American colonists' ability to take on the most powerful empire the world had ever seen and create a bastion of liberty and justice the like of which the world had never seen.

The irony is that Liberty is also the very thing that keeps us most safe and secure in the long run.  After all, it was only by first destroying Liberty in the name of security that the despots of the 20th Century, like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Zedong were empowered to kill literally hundreds of millions of their own people.

There are office holders, today, who are willing to squander our rich heritage of commitment to Liberty and desecrate the graves of the patriots who have suffered or died to secure it for us.  The Wimp Score Card is intended to highlight office holders who either don't understand our heritage or refuse to continue it.

This score card does not reward office holders for simply doing what they ought to do, instead, it is intended to expose those who chose to do the wrong thing.  "Wimp Points" are awarded for doing the wrong thing, more points are awarded for actions that have the greatest impact on the outcome or to those who are in the best position to understand the effects of their actions.

Issues and actions that result in the awarding of Wimp Points::

• Rules and Regulations that undermine basic natural rights, like the right to be secure in one's person, places, and effects.  (4th Amendment rights).  Warrant-less searches at the Capitol building is one such example.
• Bills that promote or establish government surveillance of law-abiding citizens.  A Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) is an example.
• Bills that bow to overreach by the federal government rather than stand in defense of Missourians.  The REAL ID capitulation bills are an example.
• Bills that seek to hinder law-abiding citizens' right to defend themselves.  Gun control laws are examples of this violation.

These and other actions that result in trading Liberty for security, convenience, or profit earn Wimp Points.
